Off the Grid: Psychedelic Patterns and Optical Illusions
Friday, September 17 - Kevin Smith | 6pm - 8pm
Join artist Kevin Smith for an art exercise that will help shake up your routine and push your drawing and painting skills with a little creative experimentation. Working with water media on paper, you will use perspective principles to distort and play with grid patterns. The end result will be your very own vibrant, geometric, abstract painting on paper.

Kevin is an artist and writer in Portland, Oregon. He holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Arkansas and an MA in Critical Theory + Creative Research from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. In 2019 he wrote a weekly painting blog highlighting a diverse range of painters pushing the medium into the future. Kevin was recently awarded a grant by the Regional Arts and Culture Council to complete a series of large-scale paintings capturing the spirit of Portland’s protest community over recent months and years.
