OSA is proud to present our 2024 Photography Exhibit, in partnership with Portland Photographers Forum. This year’s theme is Visual Poetry: Looking for the Meaning. How do your photos engage with the viewer? Do your photos tell a story? Do the images evoke feelings, memories, or a search for meaning? Our Juror is Fritz Liedtke, a Portland, Oregon artist and photographer, whose work has won numerous awards, and was recently featured in Lenswork magazine

GUIDELINES

  • This is a juried show, open to both OSA members and non-members.
  • Accepted Mediums: Photography and digital art based on photographic images taken with a camera.
  • All works must be no more than 48” on any one side.

  • All photographic elements must have been created by the maker. No stock or AI images will be allowed All processing and manipulation must be done by the artist.

  • Entry Fee:
    • OSA & PPF Members: $35 for up to 2 pieces (PPF Members unless they are already an OSA member should call the OSA Office to enter the show - 503-228-0706).
  • Artworks should be works recently made within the last year and must not have been exhibited previously in The Gallery at OSA.
  • Artwork must have a wire attached to the back with a sturdy D-ring attachment. Seeprospectus for details.

HOW TO ENTER

  • Step 1: Please call the office to register: 503-228-0706.
  • Step 2: Submit Images Online: CLICK HERE. Submission of images due by March 21, 2024. The image you send is what is presented in the Online Gallery.
  • Step 3: Drop off artwork and printed OSA Gallery Contract on Friday, March 29 2024, and Monday, April 1st, 2024 from 10am - 4pm.

RULES FOR ENTRY

  • Artwork should be professionally presented and follow OSA's hanging guidelines (see prospectus). Works that do not comply will not be accepted.
  • Each piece must be labled on the back and front (see OSA Gallery Contract for labels) with the artist's name, contact information and title of the work.
  • You must fill out and sign an OSA Gallery Contract.
  • Works will be shown online at osagallery.org for two months (approx. one month longer than the gallery show). Works are under contract for that time and must remain available for purchase. Artists may not arrange for the work to be sold outside OSA while under contract.
  • Work that is sold must remain on exhibit for the entire duration of the show.
  • The Gallery reserves the right to reject artwork that violates our community standards. This would include misogynistic or racist imagery, depiction of extreme violence or graphic sexuality, and objectionable political or religious imagery.
  • Artists must deliver and pick-up their work during designated hours. There is a $10 storage fee (per piece) for late pick-ups unless otherwise arranged with the OSA office.

The Gallery at OSA is pleased to announce the Spring Water Media Juried Show! This exhibition invites submissions in all types of water soluble media, such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, chalk pastel, etc. Whether your watercolors drip and flow, or you dry brush acrylic paint, we want to see your work created in water-based media. Open to any and all subject matter, this exhibition aims to showcase the beauty and diversity of water media in all of its captivating forms.

The Water Media Show will be juried by Sandra Pearce, an accomplished artist. Sandra Pearce was born in England; the family immigrated to America in the early 60’s. While crossing the Atlantic on the RMS Queen Mary, she won first place in the children’s drawing competition. 
Art has always been at the forefront, and painting emerged as the expression of choice. A trip to Tuscany, Florence, Venice and the Italian Riviera ignited a new spark of excitement in Sandra’s work – she has countless future painting ideas from her travels around the USA, Europe and Canada.

The OSA Rose Festival Show is an artistic celebration of the City of Portland and its traditions surrounding its iconic flower, the rose. This year the official Portland Rose Festival theme is “Dream Forward”. OSA is honored to participate in the events surrounding this festival by unveiling a portrait of this years Rose Festival Queen and presenting paintings in our gallery which feature scenes from around Portland and still life portraits of our beloved roses.
The show has historically been one of our biggest shows and we hope this year Portland artists will submit a wide array of art work on these traditional themes.

This year's Rose Festival show will be juried by Ron Stocke. Born 1966 in Chico California, Ron Stocke moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1979. An award-winning watercolor artist, Ron is a regular contributor to, and has been a cover artist for Watercolor Artist Magazine as well as other publications. Teaching comprehensive workshops throughout North America and Europe, he also conducts demonstrations and lectures on various art materials and creating a safe, environmentally friendly studio. Ron holds Signature Membership with the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society, is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, and a member of the American Impressionist Society. He has been an Artist Ambassador for M.Graham Watercolors for over 15 years.

2024 3rd Annual Multicultural & Diversity Showcase - Click Here To Expand

The theme of this show is art that celebrates diversity of cultures both in the artists who show their work and the subject matter of our art.  It is open to persons of all races, gender identity, orientation and religions.  It is a showcase of artwork about diverse cultures both internationally and domestic.  Artist are free to depict subject matter from other countries as well as themes of from our diverse domestic cultures.  Our hope is to present a forum that promotes good will and understanding in an environment which is too often polarized and divided.

There will be music and food will be served at the opening reception.

Submissions are open to 2-dimensional and 3- dimensional media. Size limitations apply.
